Can I bring programmes together without requiring one journey?

Bringing together
I propose ritual, memorial and grief care as related programmes within a civic sanctuary. Their relation matters because my concern extends from the arrangements around death to the possibility of returning afterwards. Bringing these activities together is a proposition about continuity. It does not, by itself, justify one sequence through them.
The February material already holds that distinction. I want to reduce the burden of unfamiliar locations, while allowing different points of entry. A chosen journey may remain meaningful. My present question is therefore what kind of connection the architecture needs to make, rather than how completely it can gather a person's experience into one route. February diary · programme
What the threads let me connect
The ritual thread gives this intention a specific instance: an antechamber may accommodate prayer while another route allows that step to be omitted. Choice is compatible with precise spatial provision.
The return thread changes the scale of that problem. People may be present for a funeral, remembrance or grief care at the same time. A route that works within the ritual building does not yet explain how those programmes share a site.
Read together, these threads suggest that continuity depends on arranging relationships that people can enter differently. It cannot depend only on keeping functions close or making the entire site open to everyone. That is the connection I am proposing here; neither thread alone establishes it.
The difficulty I have to retain
In July I proposed optional witnessing and a visible release of ashes, while also proposing protection from ritual for grief care. Alex's August question brings their coexistence into focus. If I connect everything indiscriminately, an encounter may become unavoidable. If I separate everything completely, I may undermine the belonging and return that motivate the sanctuary. My working position is that connection needs degrees of access and exposure. A person should be able to reach the reason they came, with opportunities to approach something else and opportunities to withdraw. This remains a design intention, not an achieved condition or a claim about how every visitor will feel.
Testing the relation
I can compare three hypothetical programme arrangements against the two intentions I have retained: different reasons for visiting should remain possible, and the programmes should still be able to relate.
A single compulsory sequence makes access to one programme depend on passing through another. It contradicts the possibility of coming only to remember or to seek quiet.
Entirely separate programmes allow independent visits. Separation alone, however, gives me no account of the connections through which the sanctuary could become a continuing place of return.
Independent entry with selective connections could accommodate both intentions at the level of programme logic. That possibility depends on the connections: if the only link crosses a funeral or exposes someone to an unwanted encounter, the contradiction returns.
This comparison supports a conditional direction rather than a resolved arrangement. It is a reasoning test of hypothetical relations; it has not demonstrated what happens in a plan, section or lived experience.
Where the argument remains open
To test that position, I need to place different uses into the same plan and section at the same moment: a funeral, a returning visitor and someone seeking quiet. I need to trace what each can reach, see and hear, where service movement passes, and what happens when someone declines an encounter.
A scheme in which the only route to remembrance crosses a funeral would challenge the position. So would separation that prevents any meaningful relation between programmes. Those are tests the design must answer.
