Competing possibilities

I am calling it a hybrid typology.

Funeral spaces, ritual, memorial, support. I keep putting them into a sequence because death appears to give me one. But people should be able to enter at different points without having to go through the whole thing.

I also want the building to feel a particular way. I keep moving between the felt idea and wanting something concrete enough to make decisions with.

Could materials hold memory? Could weathering make time visible? There might be something in a living landscape, but I do not have a site yet. I cannot make the landscape explain the project before I know it.

I am looking for methods and finding more possibilities: sensory experience, performance, systems, nature. I do not yet know which of these will help me draw.

The programme list is becoming clearer. The relationships between its parts are still loose.
