A room I may not enter
Aresh describes an antechamber for prayer before cremation. He also describes a way past it.
That small distinction matters. I had thought about accommodating different practices, but here accommodation is also about not having to take a particular step.
The body has a route. Staff need access. A family may return later to collect ashes without entering a machine room where other bodies are being processed. These are different movements, even within the ritual programme.
The building cannot be understood only from the person attending the ceremony.
I am also hearing about maintenance, records and staff facilities. There is much more here than the atmosphere I have been imagining. I need the parts that support it to work.
For now, the prayer room and the route past it stay beside one another in my mind. I do not want the alternative to become an afterthought.
